She has argued-somewhat paradoxically-that bias is not inherently bad; it plays a constructive role in human epistemic and emotional life.

Elay Shech is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Auburn University, specializing in philosophy of science. Michael Tamir is Chief ML Scientist and Head of Machine Learning and AI for the Susquehanna International Group, and continuing faculty for the UC Berkeley data science program. Together they work on philosophical aspects of AI and machine learning.
